Maintenence Technician

Department: Facilities
Location: Rio Rancho, NM

Job Summary and Scope

Maintenance technician is assigned to the Maintenance and Repair Section of plant operations. Responsible for providing maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and installation support for the plumbing, heating, and cooling systems throughout the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF). Perform a variety of advanced specialized maintenance and servicing duties in support of assigned on-site and/or off-site area; may perform standard maintenance duties and tasks as required. Ensure adherence to Hospital and Departmental Policies and Procedures. No patient care assignment.

Essential Functions:

  • POLICIES AND PROCEDURES - Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and quality assurance programs

  • PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops.

  • Perform a variety of tasks involved with installing, modifying, troubleshooting, and repairing new and existing steam systems to include traps, valves, risers, convectors, heat exchangers; utility systems to include condensers, chillers, air handlers, compressed air, humidifying, dehumidifying, filtering, refrigerators, freezers and computer based Energy Management Control Systems (EMCS).

  • Maintain, repair, install new and existing plumbing systems, to include: high/low pressure piping, sanitary sewer, steam heat, steam generation, circulating, vacuum, and condensate pumps, expansion tanks, radiators, lavatories, commodes, and water heaters.

  • Work from building plans, blueprints, and sketches to plan and layout routing of steam piping, vents, wiring, refrigeration lines, ductwork, and valves

  • Perform standard building maintenance, carpentry and welding duties as required to include building exterior and interior repairs and services; monitor repair and/or replace thermostats as needed.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education/Experience

Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent

 

Licenses/Certifications: Vocational Certificate in one of six categories: Electrical, Carpentry, Plumbing, Welding, Locksmith, or Bed Repair

 

Work Experience: Three (3) years maintenance, industrial or commercial work experience

 

Preferred Educational/Experience Requirements:

Licensure in Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing.
